Gotta catch them all!

How about I start to write a blog about something of actual substance, instead of just heartfelt camp song lyrics? Does that sound good?

Before anyone gets bored and stops reading, I need to know who is good with Apple products. My ipod (you know, the classy hand-me-down one with the tape on the sides?) has kind of died. It doesn't play, but instead gives me an error that says something like "please plug into computer to restore." But nothing happens when it's plugged in. Sad day.

Obviously, camp went really well. I was so sad to leave, but I'll be ok because Eagle and Blondie are planning an incredible Ohio visit in January, and I am determined to make it to reunion this year. Being a UL at this camp is a world of difference between being a UL at my old camp. I worked so much harder than I ever have before, but it was a good challenge. I met some amazing people and amazing children, and I'm so glad I had the experience.

A few days after I got home from camp, I moved into the house, which is happy. My room is nice, and it has a closet (something I've never had in a room!). There is also plenty of space for all of my toys, which are displayed wonderfully on the TRINKET SHELVES. I also finally finished the piece of art I have been working on for about 3 years now.

That's my t-shirt quilt! Yay! And just turn your head sideways. I'm not going to take the time to try and rotate it. Oh, and the two pictures above my bed are from Elmo's patrol during week 7. One of them says "Thaks Pottre You roke!" I think that translates to "Thanks Potter, you rock!" but I can't be sure.

Remember when I was thinking about what songs would be oldies when we're old? I've decided at I might be wrong about some things, but The Fray Over my Head is definitely going to make it. I don't think anyone could disagree with that. How To Save a Life might make it, but Over my Head will I'm sure.

I only have one English class this semester, and it's my last real English class (meaning, my last English class through the English department. I have a couple more English related classes, but they are all through the COE, so they're a lot different). I really don't like English classes, mostly for the same reasons why Will hates them. Black American Literature should be pretty easy, I'm guessing. The first thing we're reading is A Raisin in the Sun, which I've had to read for about 5 other classes. The rest of my classes are education classes that you all probably don't care about/understand (content reading, special topics-language learning, ed. implementation), and I'm taking ASL 1 to bump myself up to full time. It should be a good semester. I'm pretty excited to go back to the writing lab too! Yay!

Laser quest last night was ridiculous. I love laser quest, even though I'm extremely bad at it. For the last round, we all decided to pick Pokemon names. I was Squirtle, Andrew was Bulbasaur, Sarah was Jigglypuff, and Kat was Evee. It was amazing, especially when the guy handed out score sheets and said all of our pokemon names in a row.

Well, that's all for now. I wish I had more to say, but I don't. Maybe once school starts again, there will be more internet worthy stories happening.

the painted ponies, they go up and down

so, I'm feeling camp-sick already, and I've been home a week.

Anyway, according to the internet, Joni Mitchell wrote Circle Game. That's amazing! I guess I just always assume there's a group of hippie girl scout ladies that write all the songs.

Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like when you're older must appease her
And promises of someday make her dreams

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell her take your time it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

So the years spin by and now the girl is twenty
Though her dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through

And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

back in Ohio

When I was young I thought the stars were made for wishing on
And every hole deep in a tree must hide a leprechaun
Old houses all had secret rooms, if one could find the door
But who believes in magic anymore?

Magic is the sun that makes a rainbow out of rain
Magic keeps the dream alive to try, and try again
Magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave
I do believe in magic, I believe

Growing up the grown-ups said one day I'd wake to find
That magic was a childish dream I'd have to leave behind
Like clothes that would no longer fit or toys that I'd ignore
I'd not believe in magic anymore

Magic is the sun that makes a rainbow out of rain
Magic keeps the dream alive to try, and try again
Magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave
I do believe in magic, I believe

Although my childhood's far behind, I've learned to my surprise
That magic does not fade away, it wears a new disguise
a child, a friend, a smile, a song, the courage to stand tall
For loves the greatest magic of them all

Magic is the sun that makes a rainbow out of rain
Magic keeps the dream alive to try, and try again
Magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave
I do believe in magic
For love's the greatest magic
I do believe in magic, I believe.

"I'm gonna sing, I'm gonna shout!"

I don't have much time to update, because I have a hair braiding date with Kit in the staff house (I paid her with a super huge ice cream cone from J's today). So, here's a picture. It was a sad attempt at a babysitter's club-esque picture :)

The kids come on Sunday-I'm super pumped!

Miss you all! Please write.

"you're an adult now. God help us"

Aww, isn't that precious?

Well, tonight was the last troop 746 meeting EVER, which is crazy! I've been going to their meetings since I was in 8th or 9th grade. I was basically in two troops for all of high school, mine and theirs. DD and I somehow became responsible for shopping for the little shindig tonight (mistake!) so we used some of the 30 dollars we were given to buy food to buy everyone a different foam animal hat (sidenote: we completely forgot the hot dog buns, which was the primary reason we were sent to the store to begin with). My mom got a bunny, Raelyn got a horse, Megan a toucan, Chris a giraffe, I chose a bear for myself, and obviously DD chose a duck. So, anyway, everyone cried a lot tonight, it being the last and all, which was kind of hilarious because we were all wearing these ridiculous hats. At one point, I kind of blurted out "Chris, you can't cry because there's a giraffe on your head!" hahahahaha Sadly, though, this is the last time for an unknown amount of time I will be able to enjoy Megan's delicious baked beans. Also, when my mom pinned DD with her bridge to adult girl scout pin, she said "You're an adult now. God help us"

Here's food for thought: what do you think will be oldies when we're old? Dan and I talked about this the other day, and he thinks that if we have oldies (and "oldies" don't remain the 50's-60's music it is now) that it will be things like The Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, Coldplay, etc. I think that's probably true, but "oldies" consists of different genres of music that just happen to be from the same time period. I really think that Nsync is going to make it to be oldies, not because they are good, but because everyone knows them, and their songs are used in a lot of movies and stuff. I also think Britney Spears will probably make it to oldies status because of her recent craziness. I also think there's a good chance that bands like The Jonas Brothers and singers like Miley Cryrus are going to get oldies status because they have TV shows. Think about The Monkeys and The Partridge Family--the shows were probably more of an appeal than the actual music, right? But people knew the music anyway. I really think the majority of our "oldies" is going to be music made popular by TV and movies. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Life has been pretty uneventful lately. There is a camp food party on Saturday, so let me know if you want to come. I'm basically all the way packed, but everyday I think of another thing I want to bring. I'm trying to pack light, so I think packing so early was a mistake because I keep adding things. Work is awesome, I love it. The people there are so nice, and they are very happy to have me work when I can.

And since you all read this far, you get to see another picture:

Thats me, DD, Megan and Raelyn with our AWESOME hats (Life lesson-never give DD and I money and expect us to spend it responsibly).

18 more days...

Yay for only 18 more days until I leave for camp! No, I haven't started packing yet. Perhaps this weekend.

I leave early on June 10, so if you'd like to see me before then, call me!

My new camera came in! It isn't as great as the old one, but it's way better than I thought it would be for 40 dollars.

Tonight, I'll be scrapbooking with my mom and her friend. I guess that sounds boring, but I am going to work on a scrapbook of my camp pictures. Hopefully, I can have it finished so I can take it to camp and show everyone. Tomorrow, Dan and I are having some sort of adventure, potentially the Akron Art Muesuem.

I'd really like to go to the Cleveland Zoo before I leave. There is a dinosaur exhibit I'd really like to see. Anyone game for that?

I feel like I should have much more to write about, but I don't. I've been working and sleeping, mostly, so nothing worth updating about.
